Ram Mandir, FDI and India growing from 5... 4... 3... to… 1

The consecration of the Ram Mandir marks a significant milestone, and the values associated with Lord Rama and the Indian Culture carry symbolic significance on the confidence of FDI and the growth of global brands and businesses in India. Here is my exploration of various characteristics that reflect India as a country and civilization, highlighting aspects that will be important for foreign investors.

1. Resilient and Responsible: Indians, as a collective, exhibit remarkable stability, resilience, and responsibility. Despite enduring centuries of brutal massacres, cultural upheavals, systematic looting, and erosion of our knowledge base and Vedic values due to a series of atrocities like the Islamic Invasion (8th to 16th centuries), the reign of the Slave and Tughlaq Dynasties (12th to 16th centuries), Mongol Invasions (13th-14th centuries), the Mughal Empire (1526-1857), as well as Portuguese, Dutch, and British Colonialism (16th-20th centuries), India has demonstrated an extraordinary ability to bounce back in less than half a century. Various invaders, some fleeting and others establishing prolonged occupations, inflicted damage to our social fabric and economy. Additionally, they employed force, atrocities, and centuries of brainwashing to convert our gullible Hindus to Islam. Notably, the deliberate destruction of our Mandirs to construct Mosques over the same very mandir structures was an act of subjugation, aiming to obliterate our rich cultural and knowledge base. This was a humiliation beyond known levels. Despite these challenges, India remained united and endured, fighting all odds, while strategically working to peacefully reclaim our identity and glory. What highlights our strength of character is the fact that even though Hindus constitute the empowered majority, we have always refrained from using force and atrocities to reclaim what was rightfully ours, including this Ram Mandir. We believe in righteous ways to handle conflicts and confusion to find a peaceful and lasting solution.

2. Inclusive Society: India's commitment to tolerance and inclusivity is deeply embedded in our core values. While historical periods, such as the Mughals and Slave and Tughlaq Dynasties, witnessed forced conversions of our own people to Islam, the British deliberately fuelled tensions between Hindus and Muslims, culminating in the religious partition of India in 1947. Despite being predominantly Hindu, India's decision to remain religiously neutral is a demonstration of remarkable self-confidence and proprietary. Presently, India embraces people of all regions, religions and beliefs, a distinctive characteristic not commonly found in countries that typically align with a specific religion.

3. Polite perseverance: Exhibiting both patience and decisiveness, Hindus in India constituting the majority, refrained from hastening the reconstruction of the Ram Mandir until a favourable decision was reached by the Supreme Court of India. The prolonged struggle for the temple's restoration showcased a remarkable resilience that surpassed known levels of endurance. During this extended period, the Hindu community demonstrated steadfastness in awaiting the legal resolution, emphasizing the importance of due process and adherence to the judicial system in addressing matters of conflict.

4. Highest Levels of Propriety: Exemplifying the highest level of propriety, the construction of the Ram Mandir stands out as a testament to responsible financial management. Ram Mandir has been constructed using the donation funding exceeding Rs. 5500 crore instead of misusing taxpayer money or any other fund. The Indian Government consciously prioritized the people's interests, utilizing taxpayer contributions exclusively for government projects aimed at growth and welfare. This highlights a commitment to propriety, emphasizing the responsible use of power for the collective benefit, rather than pursuing short or long-term individual goals.

5. Family and Societal Values Hold High: India is a society driven by values,  where the concept of family holds precedence over individual goals. This cultural ethos is reflected in historical narratives, where Lord Ram's journey to Vanvaas, Laxman's sacrifice, and Bharat's refusal to ascend the throne symbolize familial duty superseding personal ambitions. In contrast, historical figures like Islamic ruler Aurangzeb pursued power ruthlessly, resorting to fratricide and paternal imprisonment for personal gain.

6. Equal Opportunities For All: India, known as a "Home for All," has provided equal opportunities for growth and happiness to diverse communities. India hosts the world's largest Muslim population and individuals of various backgrounds where key and responsible positions are held based on merit, as exemplified by leaders like Dr. Abdul Kalam, who went on to become the much-loved President of India. The Parsis, who originally migrated from Persia, have established and become an integral part of India and are a dominant force in the Indian business class, taking the country to newer heights of growth and prosperity. So if you want to grow and contribute constructively in India, the sky is the limit.

7. Women In the lead: The Indian civilization has consistently accorded women a higher position, evident in even the divine representations such as Sita-Ram, Radhe-Shyam, Laxmi-Narayan, and Gauri-Shankar, where the female spouse is named before the male. Drawing inspiration from such rich traditions and values, Indian women today actively participate in various aspects of work and life, with their increasing presence driving the nation's economy to new heights in contemporary India.

8.    Cultural Diversity and Pluralism: India's cultural richness and pluralism provide a hospitable terrain for foreign businesses. The harmony in coexisting languages, traditions, and lifestyles enables global brands to customize their offerings for a broad and diverse consumer base. As the ancient Indian saying goes, "Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam" (the world is one family), emphasizing the unity in diversity that is deeply ingrained in the Indian ethos. India's rich tapestry is woven with resilience and unity, hosting over 2,000 distinct ethnic groups and embracing more than 1,600 spoken languages, representing people from major regions across the globe. This diverse mosaic reflects the nation's ability to harmoniously bring together a multitude of cultures and languages, fostering a sense of shared identity amid the myriad differences.

9. Spirit of Entrepreneurship: The Sanskrit verse "Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah" (may all beings be happy) encapsulates the spirit of collective well-being that drives collaborative efforts. Growth of vibrant marketplaces, reflecting an entrepreneurial ethos that fostered innovation during Gupta Period. Rooted in a culture of innovation and collaboration, India boasts a strong entrepreneurial spirit, evident in a thriving ecosystem of start-ups and small businesses. Foreign investors can align with this cultural enthusiasm, fostering partnerships that contribute to the growth of India's entrepreneurial landscape

10. Respect for Traditions and Heritage: The deep-seated reverence for traditions and heritage in Indian culture offers a unique opportunity for foreign brands to align with local values. The Cholas were patrons of the arts, preserving and celebrating classical dance, architecture, and literature. By respecting and integrating cultural elements, brands can find greater acceptance among Indian consumers.

11. Emphasis on Education and Knowledge: Historically, India has been a beacon of education and knowledge. The Nalanda, Vikramshila & Taxila Universities, stand as an enduring symbol of India's commitment to education and knowledge. Students from across the world travelled to India to study diverse subjects, reflecting the cultural emphasis on intellectual pursuits and the exchange of knowledge. Foreign brands can leverage this legacy by engaging in educational initiatives, skill development, and knowledge exchange. "Gyanam Paramam Deyvam" (knowledge is the supreme deity) underscores the cultural significance placed on the pursuit of wisdom.

12. Adaptability and Flexibility: The adaptive and flexible nature of Indian culture is reflected in its ability to navigate dynamic market conditions. Foreign brands that embrace this flexibility, adjusting to consumer preferences and regulatory environments, are poised to thrive. The Sanskrit adage "Sarvam Khalvidam Brahman" (all that exists is a manifestation of the divine) encapsulates the spirit of acceptance and adaptability.

13. Hospitality and Warmth: The profound cultural principle of "Atithi Devo Bhava," translating to "the guest is god," underscores India's deep-rooted tradition of extending utmost warmth and respect to guests. This ethos is seamlessly woven into the fabric of our Investment Promotion Agencies, creating an environment where global brands and businesses are not merely received but embraced with exceptional hospitality. In the realm of investment and commerce, international entities entering the Indian market find themselves welcomed with genuine warmth, flexibility, and a sense of importance. This cultural approach goes beyond mere formality; it is a reflection of a shared commitment to fostering strong, mutually beneficial partnerships. Whether navigating regulatory landscapes, establishing collaborative ventures, or pursuing common objectives, the emphasis on hospitality paves the way for productive and harmonious interactions. The essence of "Atithi Devo Bhava" permeates business dealings, contributing to a business environment where cultural respect and collaboration are integral components of success.

14. Holistic Well-being and Spiritualism: Yoga, embraced globally for its holistic approach to physical and spiritual well-being, is complemented by the Sanskrit mantra "Om Shanti Shanti Shanti," symbolizing a universal aspiration for peace in body, mind, and spirit. The cultural emphasis on comprehensive well-being, addressing physical, mental, and spiritual facets, not only enhances the quality of life but also creates an inviting environment for foreign brands seeking investment opportunities in India. This cultural inclination towards holistic wellness aligns seamlessly with the ethos of foreign brands dedicated to health and well-being. Investing in India becomes not just a strategic move but an alignment with a cultural mindset that values a harmonious blend of physical fitness and mental serenity. The cultural openness to holistic approaches creates a conducive market for foreign brands, fostering a unique synergy between global business objectives and India's cultural emphasis on comprehensive well-being.

15. Community Engagement and Social Responsibility: Indian culture places a strong emphasis on community engagement and social responsibility. Foreign brands actively participating in community development, environmental sustainability, and social causes gain favourable attention. The Sanskrit verse "Sangachchhadhwam Samvadadhvam" (walk together, speak in harmony) encapsulates the cultural ethos of collective responsibility and collaboration.

16. Forgiving & Forward Moving: Rooted in the spirit of Lord Ram's teachings, India exemplifies forgiveness as a transformative force. A nation with a remarkable ability to embrace forgiveness, India's history is marked by a profound turning of the page on past invasions and exploitation. Welcoming Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Global Brands with open arms from non-allies countries as well, creating an opportunity for mutual growth. India forges ahead with a progressive mindset, envisioning a collaborative future built on understanding and reconciliation. This forward-thinking approach, driven by a generous spirit, positions India as a beacon of progress and unity.

In the wake of a tumultuous history marked by invasions, cultural upheavals, and colonial rule, India has emerged as a phoenix, reclaiming its status as a global economic powerhouse. The consecration of the Ram Mandir and the deeply ingrained values it represents highlight the resilience, tolerance, growth and inclusivity that define the Indian ethos. Despite centuries of challenges, India has not only withstood the trials but has rebounded with unwavering strength and determination. As the country rapidly ascends towards becoming the world's leading economy, the future for global brands and foreign direct investment (FDI) in India appears extraordinarily promising.

With a commitment to responsible financial management and a strong emphasis on the collective benefit of society, India has positioned itself as an attractive destination for global brands and FDI. The one world, one family values deeply rooted in Indian Vedic culture resonate with the evolving global landscape, fostering an environment where diversity is celebrated, and opportunities are extended to all. The economic trajectory of India reflects a profound understanding of the importance of family values and social harmony, creating a conducive atmosphere for businesses to thrive.

As India progresses towards economic pre-eminence, its robust fundamentals and timeless cultural values ensure boundless growth opportunities. The convergence of traditional values with a modern, global outlook positions India as a key player in the interconnected world economy. The "Home for All" philosophy, which has been an integral part of India's cultural fabric, reinforces the notion that diversity is not merely tolerated but embraced, contributing to the nation's rich tapestry of growth. The success of global brands and FDI in India is not just a testament to economic potential but a realization of the enduring strength of India's character and values, propelling the nation towards a future where prosperity knows no bounds.
